This heavy western concord mail coach is in excellent original condition, with exquisite ornamentation on a red painted wood body. The body is in excellent condition with moderate wear and the painting is excellently preserved. The coach has the inscription painted on the upper side panels that read: HADal SANTA~.ANA Y LOBOS. The windows are covered with learther curtains, and the doors and side lights have glass windows. There is also 1 roof seat forward facing, and two facing interior seats. The undercarriage is painted yellow and the coach is suspended on thoroughbraces. The wheels have metal tires. History of Haciendas Santa Ana and Lobos in the state of Guanajuata go back to the late 16th century and the descendants of Conquistadors. They raised corn and other crops on irrigated land, horses and cattle and maintained a citizen population to work and manage the vast tracts of land. Eventually the two haciendas combined their assets in the 1840's making them popular destinations on the stagelines.
