It's hard to believe that twenty plus years have gone by so quickly. We've come a long way from our start in 1978 as a one-man shop, to a world class wagon shop, employing a staff of craftsmen. For this we are indebted to our customers. We thank them for the confidence they have placed in us - and the opportunity to provide them with the quality products and services that they expect.

Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop is a family-owned and operated wagon manufacturer which specializes in the construction and restoration of horse-drawn vehicles and wheels. Our historic location in the rolling grasslands of the Dakotas provides the in- spiration for the creation of these hand-crafted works of art.

With over 20 years of experience and a staff of dedicated craftsmen, we can provide you with the most historically accurate horse-drawn vehicles and accessories found anywhere this side of the 1800's. Extensive research into the traditional tools and methods of Old West blacksmiths and wheelwrights, and our dedication to producing superior quality horse-drawn vehicles, ensures authenticity in everything we do.

Each of our vehicles is built to the specific needs and taste of the customer. We work closely with each customer to guarantee satis- faction, as word of mouth from satisfied customers has built our business and reputation.

The western way of life has intrigued people ever since the days of the great cattle drives. All of us here at Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop share with you the spirit of the Old West that springs from our heritage. We look forward to designing and building a wagon that meets your needs and provides a lifetime of enjoyment. Let us help you capture the essence of the Old West.

Sincerely,

Doug Hansen

Company Profile

Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop is a complete shop. We handle all aspects of the wagon production; including our own wheelwright & design work, black smithing, paint shop, wood shop, trim shop, etc. Because we do not farm any of our work out, we have full control of all aspects of the work - design, details and finished quality.

We are members of the following organizations: Carriage Association of America, Western Wheelwrights Association of Canada, and ABANA Blacksmith Association.

Satisfied customers like Russ Tyndall say, "Doug, your wheels turned out beautiful. I am impressed that there is hardly an 1/8" run-out on all four wheels. You are a master!" and Juanita Young, of the Days of '76 Committee comments on an Abbott & Downing " Mud Wagon", "There are hardly words to express our appreciation for Doug's expertise in the authentic restoration of this special museum piece."

Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop is owned and operated by Doug and Holly Hansen. Our location in the western grasslands of the Dakotas lends the heritage of the pioneers and cowboys, who developed the region, to a natural appreciation for the old ways. This area's historic resources and study material are used to authentically reproduce the wagons which we specialize in.
